Egypt win CAVB Women’s Volleyball African Nations Championship, book 2028 Olympic spot; Kenya and Cameroon qualify for 2027 World Cup

Egypt defeated Kenya 3-0 in the final of the CAVB Women’s Volleyball African Nations Championship to win the continental title and secure a historic place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Kenya earned the silver medal and a ticket to the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup, while Cameroon took bronze and also qualified for the 2027 World Cup. Nada Ahmed Houssameldein scored a match-high 14 points for Egypt, including two kill blocks and one ace. Mariam Metwally Mohamed Morsy added 12 points. For Kenya, Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch scored 11 points with two aces and one kill block, while Elizabeth Marian Sokoiyo contributed 10 points. Egypt completed an unbeaten run in the tournament, confirming its position as Africa’s leading women’s volleyball team. The victory gives Egypt its first-ever appearance in the women’s Olympic volleyball tournament. The qualification success of Egypt, Kenya and Cameroon gives Africa three representatives at major global events in the same cycle, a sign of progress for the sport on the continent.
